Hope can be hard to find in times of prolonged stress, illness, loss, struggle or tragedy.
Healing from hardship is not just a matter of changing your thoughts – if it was you’d have done it already. And it’s not a matter of “toughening up” or “pushing through” – you’ve done that already too.
Healing from hardship requires a different approach and that is the journey we are embarking on.
A journey that is a compassionate, intentional and effective healing process full of support, tools, guidance and information that will make a real and positive impact to your healing and recovery from the personal hardship you have faced.
Healing is a process. And with the right approach it is possible and ALWAYS worth it. Good things will come from this healing process. You will find peace, clarity, strength, comfort, reassurance, insight and restored hope. You will learn new pathways to emotional, mental, physical and energetic healing, comfort and support all in a safe, relaxed and nurturing environment with a small group of like-minded and intended amazing people.
Healing After Hardship is a 4 Session In-Person Group Class providing practical, proven, common-sense support, tools and guidance to help you heal and find your way beyond difficult times and challenges. You will emerge from this experience with greater self-knowledge, compassion and understanding that will support and guide you going forward to better days and times ahead. You will be equipped and empowered to go forward into a new future of your own design, no longer controlled by your hardship but consciously controlling your past and creating your future.
This class and the material presented will meet you where you are and all progress is within your control at your own pace and comfort and always for your greatest good.
Healing After Hardship is for you if you have experienced hardship due to:
- Persistent Relationship Problems
- Estrangement from Family
- Intense Shaming or Guilt
- Ongoing Conflict
- Job Loss
- Extreme Loneliness
- Loss of a Loved One
- Financial Struggle
- Illness or a Diagnosis
- Occupational Conflict, Dissatisfaction or Struggle
- Abuse or Violence
- Pro-longed Stress
- Life Transition such as Retirement, Empty Nest or Grown Children Returning Home
Or Maybe You Are Caring For Someone Who Is:
- Financially Dependent on You
- Emotionally or Physically Draining or Dependent on You
Or maybe you have not experienced any of the above but you still feel sad, angry, afraid, overburdened, confused and empty for no clear reason at all.
If it has been emotionally, physically, mentally and energetically hard for you, then it is a hardship. If it has taken its toll and left you stressed, emotionally, physically and mentally depleted and feeling like you’re not yourself and that you lack the consistent energy to bounce back — it is time to be supported to Heal After Hardship.
Recognize the Effects of Hardship
Emotional symptoms of stress due to hardship include:
- Becoming easily agitated, frustrated, anxious and moody
- Being reactive, short-tempered and impatient
- Feeling overwhelmed, like you’re losing control or that you need to have control
- Difficulty relaxing and calming your mind
- Becoming emotional and crying easily
- Feeling insecure, critical or bad about yourself – low self-esteem, lonely, worthless, depressed
- Avoiding others
- Feel alone in your struggle
- Feel hopeless at times
- Become disheartened easily
Physical symptoms of stress due to hardship include:
- Lethargy and low energy
- Easily exhausted
- Upset stomach/Nausea
- Sudden sweating
- Racing Heart
- Tense muscles, body aches, pains or stiffness
- Trouble sleeping/insomnia
- Frequent colds and infections
- Loss of sexual desire and/or ability
- Nervousness and shaking
- Cold or clammy hands and feet
- Dry mouth or persistent feeling of lump in throat
- Tense jaw and/or teeth grinding
- Ringing in the ear
- Hair loss
Mental symptoms of stress due to hardship include:
- Constant worrying
- Racing thoughts
- Forgetfulness and disorganization
- Inability to focus
- Poor judgement
- Being negative or pessimistic only seeing what is or can go wrong
- Anticipating the worst outcomes
Behavioural symptoms of stress due to hardship include:
- Changes in appetite – either not eating or eating too much
- Lack of interest in things that used to interest or uplift you
- Procrastinating and avoiding responsibilities
- Ambivalence and trouble making decisions
- Numbing out to food, drink, media, sleep, spending or drama
- Nervous behaviour, such as nail biting, fidgeting and pacing
- Going through the motions of your life lacking interest or enthusiasm
Consequences of Hardship:
A little stress every now and then is a natural consequence of life, but stress from hardship amplifies and prolongs stress making it very difficult to manage or recover from. The longer the fight or flight response is engaged to combat the ongoing hardship the more hardwired it becomes and normal actions that would typically disengage this reactive state become ineffective. This leaves you living in a constant state of heightened anxiousness, worry, stress and reactivity. And your quality of life, relationships and even health are compromised.
The body and mind are not meant to exist in the fight or flight response. The result of this is emotional, physical, mental and energetic exhaustion and if left untreated – illness.

Q. Who is the Healing After Hardship class for?
A. Healing After Hardship is for everyone who has experienced stress, heartache, loss, struggle, illness, tragedy, abuse, shame, guilt or betrayal that has left their heart heavy, their mind reeling or confused, their energy depleted or lessened and their body tired. Healing After Hardship is for every person who wants support, nurturing and guidance to find peace, clarity and resolve within for what they have been through. The class is for everyone who wants to know they are not alone and that there are tools and information that can help them heal and move forward with a lighter heart and clearer mind, restored energy and hope for their present and future. Ultimately Healing After Hardship is for those who are ready to cultivate a loving, respectful and intimate relationship with themselves as their own best ally along their path of emotional, physical, mental and energetic healing, happiness, health and wholeness.
Q. I’m a private person. Will I have to share my inner most feelings in this class?
A. I’m not going to BS you we are doing deep and meaningful work in this four class series. Things will shift. You will be lighter leaving than when you arrived. There will be Aha’s and insights and possible tears of release and joy…AND…the class is a safe, relaxed, supportive, confidential and sacred space for everyone where you will be invited to heal and grow but you will NEVER be forced to share anything you don’t want to. Sharing is optional. I promise. You can simply come and soak it all up, take your exercises home, do them in private and come back the following week to soak up some more. We’ll just be happy to have you there!
Q. I have never joined a class like this before. Will I benefit and get something from it?
A. Absolutely! Having been in a class like this is not a requirement. The opportunity of this class is professional in-person support in a safe, comforting environment and time carved out of your busy life to focus on you, connect to your deeper wisdom and access inner healing that creates outer peace and clarity in your life and relationships. You will benefit immensely from the synergy of the group, the setting, the tools and exercises and my heart-centered leadership. While there will be reverence for everyone’s experiences there will also be light-heartedness and laughter – because accessing joy heals.
Q. I am in the midst of a hardship and feeling confused, scattered and emotionally raw. Is this class for me?
A. More than ever! This is not about showing up polished and perfect, this is about showing up real and honest and getting what you need. You will be supported and given tools, exercises and information that will bring you solace, comfort, growth, insight, reassurance and healing personal to you and your experience. You will leave this class feeling like you reclaimed parts of yourself you had long forgotten or never realized existed along with new, wiser, stronger parts of yourself that have been fortified by your experience. You will emerge from this class with greater self-knowledge and self-appreciation for what you are going through. You won’t get that curled up at home under a blanket. Bring the blanket and your shaky self and show up to be nourished by the experience. Your future self will thank you for it.
Q. What if I don’t get to the reason I signed up for this class and leave feeling like I should have just stayed home?
A. If you show up 100% for this class curious, willing to dive into the work and open to self discovery you will get everything you signed up for and more. There is no way you will leave this experience feeling the way you would feel simply staying home. This experience will transform you at a deep level and will make coming to class easy and worth it!
Q. It’s been some time since my hardship. Will this class still benefit me?
A. Yes! Pain is pain regardless of time. It is false that time heals all. In fact with time the effects of your hardship can become more wide-reaching, impacting and undermining to your health and happiness without you realizing it. The mind and body adapt in order to compensate for the hardship but they do so at a cost. It takes more energy to put a smile on your face, to get up and meet the challenges of your day, to go through the motions of your life. It erodes away at your belief, faith and trust in yourself and your ability to be happy, healthy and healed. It weakens your hope for your future and if left un-challenged it causes you to begin to turn on yourself so that you become harsh, impatient and critical of yourself, your worth, your deserving and your capabilities. It can put you in a downward spiral you don’t know how to get out of. Just like you would take measures to heal a broken arm, measures taken to heal a broken, injured, hurt or confused heart will bring healing, transformation, growth and just like the broken bone, make it stronger in the broken place. This class will meet you exactly where you are and benefit you in ways you can’t yet imagine.
Q. What should I bring to the workshop?
A. You will need to bring a journal and pen for note taking and exercises and please dress comfortably. Truly! We aren’t here to impress, we are here to progress so that means bring your slippers, a shawl, scarf or blanket. If it adds to your comfort then bring it. This information and more will be sent to you with your registration confirmation.
Q. Where is it being held?
A. The Healing After Hardship classes all take place at the Vero Health Clinic at 2915 28th avenue in downtown Vernon BC. A map will be included in your confirmation details.
Q. What is the refund policy?
A. Because the Healing After Hardship four class series is an in-depth specialized offering that requires extensive preparation your seat is non-refundable. To make your decision if the class is for you take a deep breath and gently ask yourself“If I loved and trusted myself would I do this for myself? Is this what my heart needs?” And if it is, then step into it with grace and trust and show up ready to be uplifted and nourished by the experience and receive the gifts that are inherent in the process and that you are ready to receive. And if this is not the right time for you, trust that equally.
Q. This is a big investment for me right now. Are there scholarships or sliding scales available?
A. No there are no scholarships or sliding scales available for the Healing After Hardship four class series but if needed I am happy to offer a payment plan. Simply send me an email and we will get you set up. If beyond that, price is your hesitation then now is probably not the right time for us to work together. I have facilitated transformational workshops and retreats and coached hundreds of private clients to experience a new found personal freedom that elevated their lives, their relationships and their ability to create, lead and love themselves and their life. Healing After Hardship is an invaluable immersion into that experience. I promise your life will be made better, kinder more fulfilling, enriched and hopeful from this experience. You must ask yourself how much is that worth to you?
Q. What if my plans change after I register and I can no longer attend the class?
A. As the Healing After Hardship four class series is non-refundable should your plans change and you are unable to attend the class you are welcome to 1) Apply your registration to a private coaching session, a future workshop or online program or 2) give or sell your ticket to someone else who would benefit.
Bottom line — this is a courageous step. And it will make a true difference for you.
